Evaluation

After completing my prilmary task i moved on to my main task which was, still to create certain pages of a magazine but unlike in my prilmary task, i had to create a front cover, a contents page and a double-paged spread for a music magazine for a genre of my choice.

For my Main Task i had to complete the following:

v Researching on music magazines
v folder for Coursework
v Analysing the front page of music magazines

v Analyse any other magazine

v choose a type of genre for the music magazine
v Making a questionnairev Hand the questionnaire to 10 people
v tally chart of questionnaire results
v Font Testing

v colour testing

v a reader profile
v 6 drafts of front page
v 3 final front pages
v Make a blog
v Contributed to your blog (use the evaluation questions)
v Analysed content pages
v 6 drafts of content pages
v 3 final content pages

v Analsyed double page spreads

v 6 drafts of double page spreads

v 3 final double page spreads
v Take pictures (medium shot and other angles)

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media product does all of the above. it develops, uses and challenges real media products.

3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

I have learned alot from the feedback that i recieved from my target audience when i gave out my questionnaire. Doing the questionnaire allowed me to create a music magazine that in general the public will buy and read about, also it allowed me to discover what sort of colours would attract my target audiences eye and also what sort of information the public would be most attractive to them and thier friend

4. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

To create my media product i had to use new technology to construct my student magazine. I had to use a new software that i had only heard of but had never used or seen it in action, until i crerated my student magazine in my prelimary task... Photoshop. i had learnt many things more since i completedmy prelimary task

I also learnt more about using a camera and taking pictures. I learnt how to take a picture at many different angles, such as a high angel shot and spot lighting. I have taken other pictures in the past and when i was producing my student magazine but they have been they were small angel.

Lastly I found this task fun because I explored my own favourite magazine and also achieved new things on Photoshop. I also had a new experience with MAC pc’s even if it was frustrating at first. If I had to redo my task again I think I would do the same thing I did and maybe add more things to it as well.

writing copy- Jingles

The cat is out of the bag.

Shock to the nation because Jingles, the cat, the star, has arrived. This cat is just amazingly talented, his earliest piece that he performed at the hexagon theatre in Reading which he played in December 2007 was Jingle Bells which “was played beautifully” says Harry Hope who viewed this performance from the front line, and “Christmas will never be the same again”. The strain of the organ music fading away as the marvellous cat finishes his performances; in the London Theatre and other studios, is a sensation that you will never forget!

Jingles started his training as a young kitten that had just turned one and even then his owner -and trainer- Julia Masters could already see that he had great potential… “He was always a talented kitten as well as very curious, I had just had him two month when he started joining me on my organ and copying my keys, it was then that I saw the star within my cat” she said to LCs Classics at her interview this week. “I had found Jingles in a box down close to where I work in the Reading Town Centre three months before I got him. He was seriously wounded and there was a point in that time period where they thought they might lose him”. But Jingles did make it and 3 months on he was allowed to go to his new home with Julia.

The next two years were spent with Jingles learning the sounds of a tune and the signs for each note, for example five fingers translate to a high pitched “C” key. Jingles would practice with Julia every day of the week for long hours but “he always had tuna for his super, it’s his favourite”

By the age of four Jingles had played professionally at 6 different resorts in England including Heaven Caravan Parks and Butlins where he has played Jingle Bells and twinkle, twinkle little star with amazing accuracy. Jingles loves to travel to different places “it’s not a problem him getting into the car, it is getting him out at home afterwards that’s the problem” says Julia “but he does enjoy nice cool saucer of milk when he has finished a show.”

Jingles is now practicing “O to Joy” for the music festival in Oxford next month where there is hope that he will win a chance to play in Europe at the European Festival in December 2009.

Jingles has had a lot of support from friends and family in this journey he has taken and they all want him to do well in music festival and have the chance that both he and his trainer have been aiming for.

To see this amazing cat in a live performance visit www.jinglesthecat.com and see his theatre schedule and book your ticket(s). You can also download his unique story of his rise to fame on the website. The web site also provides you with an opportunity to buy his CDs and an in site to his home life and how he began.

Jingles is also looking for a singing partner to sing the songs he plays at the English Grand Concert next year. If you would like to audition contact his trainer on 0118 9872340 or you could fill in an audition form on the web site.

Classical fm Music Magazine front cover annoated

This magazine has a clear title that stands out and grabs the reader's attention. The cover is not cover loaded with text and images.

It's main colour is red with the background of white which helps the text that is on this magazine stand out more. It also has a free gift which ifn the reader wants that CD they will buy the magazine too. This magazine plays on the fact that many members of the public want to look like these celebrities and would want to know everything that is going on in this persons life so that they can be similar to them in how they live there life. The title colours are black-to stand out on the white background-white-to standout on her hair which is brown-and red to be the main part of the title and also the red means passion, romance- a girls colour. They use a beauitful woman on the front cover because they are playing on the need that alot of women want to look as beauitful as the people/models who go on the front covers of all magazines not just music magazines. The main sub0title that went by the biggest picture on the front cover so it is possible that the news under this title would be the biggests news.

The small picture that is put on top of the CD, it might aswell be at the bottom of the page, it is about new gossips that the public can do with there friends in the play ground or in town.

more on the CD

"FREE CD" to draw the readers eyes to the CD. On the front cover of the magazine there is a picture under the CD which shows where the CD goes on the cover. The colours of the CD cover are red, orange and yellow, these colours the colours of a flame burning bright with warmth. This might plays on the fact that some people feel as if they can not express their feelings to others but that they can feel can feel the heat, warmth and love through music that they can not get any where else. The passion of life. The CD on the front cover can also help people to feel more confident in themselves and some of the songs that they really love, they might sing them selves one day in a show where they can display their talents to the whole world, such as the X factor. They might one day open up their own band and make a future career of it.
Apart from the pretty woman they use on the front cover they also use a handsome man aswell who is marrying another artist in the msic world which might make some of the readers think that they will never have that dream but he reasures them tat they can. The fact that there is a wedding gives a romantic image to the reader and the fact that they have it the front cover suggests that it is big news but also it would most likely attract more woman and young teenagers (girls) readers to the magazine because in society it is said that it is women who have the dream of a happily ever after

more about the models

The men in society may decide to have long hair like this male artist because they might think that they can get the women interested in them if they have long hair. The barcode is hidden within this male model artist so that the reader main for get that they have to pay for it and just want it no matter what. The male model might draw more women to the magazine because they might want their dream man to look like him. Also the woman model might draw more men to the magazine because they might want their dream girl to like that and also so that they have something to compare heri girlfriends to look like, or they might just want to put it on his wall like the rest of them. The girl model might also bring more women to the magazine because the female audience would want to lppk like her and know information about her so that they can talk about her to their friends.

This is a German Magazine

I wanted to look at an Euorpen music magazine to see if the style of this type of magazine would be different in different countries.
This music magazine has got alot of colour on it but the main colour is pink which links into one part of what the magazine is going to be about, the group called "Pink"
This magazine uses people who look pretty to attract a readers attention (mainly girls), it plays on the fact that the public would want to be like these people.
It talks about alot of different groups and thier different CDs. It also tells the reader that there is "13 Posters" inside this magazine, so if the reader is a big fan of one of the groups that are going to be mentioned in this magazine and will want to buy it so that they have a new poster to put on their wall.
the title is bold and eye catching to draw the readers attention to it. it is in black with white surrounding each letter which is only seen in the title of the magazine on this front cover where as the other main sub titles are similar to each other because they are in either pink or yellow.
This magazine also plays on social belonging because it has all the latest popular music in it and if the reader wants to fit in with a crowd of people who also enjoys this type of music then they will buy it so that they have equal or more knowledge about this subject so they can fit into the crowd of people who are popular too. It also plays on people wanting to ensure they they don't be in possibility of being bullied or any other kind of threat, the freedom from being physical bullied or either mentally and emotionally bullied.
It also plays on the public sense that they want to feel that they have the respect of others in society and it would also give them motovation to go after their dreams because it says that if these celebrities could become what they wanted and coming from the same back ground or similar to them then they can too and this plays on their esteem because apart from them giving respect to the celebrities for mangaing to get to where they are today they also get respect to they selves when they decided to go after their dreams.
I have found that even though his music magazine is in a different language the layout and the style is siomilar to what i would find in a music magazine in England, so i know that my music magazine would sell just as much in a different country as it would in England if my music magazine got published world wide.

Kerrang Music Magazine Front Cover

This music magazine front cover's main colour is black and white, so the text and images stand out on the front cover to catch the reader's eye so that they will want to buy this magazine to find out what is in side it. Kerrang is a popualr music magazine with the boys of society, this is shown in its use of the colour black, the fact that it is popular with boys mainly teenage boys shows that this magazine plays the fact that these teenage boys would want to fit in with their gag and have things to talk about with their mates and brothers. it also plays on the fact that some of these boys will want to become as well known and successful as these men on the front cover.

This magazine is also sold to girl teenagers too. But this also plays on the fact that the girls would want to have stuff to gossip about to their friends, but most of the time it might be that perhaps the girls do not just look at this cover to know more about the type of music but also to look at the handsome models on the front cover and want a b0oyfriend like them or compare them to their present boyfriend. They might also want to know more about these type of singers so that they can interest a man with their knowledge and not get bored or them bored.

The magazine's main title is in black or white but there are some text on the front cover that is not black and white. For example one of the sub-titles is in the colour yellow which links in with the text that is in its colour because the colour yellow can be a colour a flame and a word in the text says "HOTSHOTs". This colour also stands out on the black background.

The front cover tells the reader that there is free posters in this magazine and there are alot of pictures on the front cover under this decleration which suggests to the reader that there are alot of them, this plays on the fact that a big fan would want to have all the posters of their favourite singer or group and so will buy the magazine so they can get the posters they want

The barcode is fairly big for this front cover so that the reader knows that they have to pay to pay for the magazine.

The background of this magazine is of a group from this type of magazine and because they are a big picture and they are in the centre, it suggests to the reader that they are the biggest in the chart of this type of music. This plays on the fact that if a member of the public's favourite singer or group is on the cover then they will have more respect for that group or singer than they did before.

It also tells us that a member of the a singer form before has gone perhaps crazy and now is "disturbed" This would make the readers buy the magazine because they would want to know what has happened to this star. This plays on the fact that the public would not want him to be ill but are courious to know what happened to him.

Research on Classical Music

Classical music is a broad term that usually refers to mainstream music produced in, or rooted in the traditions of Western liturgical and secular music, encompassing a broad period frpm aproximently the 9th centry to the present day. The central norms of this tradition became codified between 1550 and 1900, which is known as the common pratice period.

European music is largely distinguished from many other non-European and popular musical forms by its system of staff notation, in usesince about the 16th century. Western staff notation is used by composers to prescribe to performer the pitch, speed, meter, individual rhythms and ad libitum ornamentation, that are frequently heard in non-European art musi (compare Indian classical music and Japanese traditional music) and popular music.

The public taste for and appreciation of formal music of this type waned in the late 1900s in the United States and United Kingdom in particular. certainly this period has seen classical music falling well behind the immense commercial success of popular music, in the opinion of some, although the number of CDs sold is not indicative of the popularitly of classical music.

The term "classical music" did not appear until the early 19th century, in an attempt to "canonize" the period from Johann Sebastian Bach to Beethoven as a golden age. The earlist reference to "classical music" recorded by the Oxford English Dictionary is from about 1836. Many writers feel that "classical" is an inappropriate term for mainstream and avant-garde music written since the latter part of the 19th century, hence the common usage of apostrophes as a short-hand for "so-called".
